PP+K’s work on behalf of The Florida Aquarium was honored with two 2014 Flagler Awards at the 47th Annual Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism, placing Silver in the categories of Out-of-Home and Radio Advertising. This is the fourth year in a row that PP+K and The Florida Aquarium have teamed up to submit Flagler Award-winning creative.
The Flagler Awards recognize individuals, private businesses and non-profit organizations whose creative and innovative tourism marketing efforts help maintain and improve Florida’s position as one of the world’s most popular travel destinations.
“We’re thrilled that our work with The Florida Aquarium was recognized for the fourth year running,” says Tom Kenney, Executive Creative Director at PP+K. “The Flagler Awards honor outstanding tourism marketing, and we are proud to be able to play a role in the development of Florida’s tourism industry.”
PP+K created a teaser billboard to promote The Florida Aquarium’s Florida Invaders Exhibit featuring Burmese pythons. Titled “Python Takeover,” the teaser was awarded a Silver Flagler Award in the category of Out-of-Home. The Tampa-based advertising agency also produced a 30-second radio spot titled “Love Birds” for the purpose of promoting the Aquarium’s popular penguin attraction, awarded Silver in the category of Radio Advertising.
“Our relationship with PP+K over the past seven years has resulted in increased ticket sales and awareness of our many exhibits,” says Scott Rose, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at The Florida Aquarium. “We are honored to be recognized as an organization that helps support Florida’s status as one of the most popular travel destinations in the world.”
