This year on Giving Tuesday, PPK decided to give back to the four-legged community. But
instead of dropping off boxes of donations or writing a check, we wanted to get a little more
The idea: host a fundraiser during lunchtime at our downtown office.
The goal: to raise as much money as possible in a two-hour span.
Knowing a mid-day event during the week could present challenges, we knew we’d need an
incentive to convince people to spend their lunch break with us. A cookout? Sure! And thus,
“Dogs for Dogs” was born. $1 hot dogs with all proceeds going to animals in need.
The team got to work developing a full branding package to strengthen awareness and visibility
– extending it across social, outdoor and radio.
To drive local impact, we partnered with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Suncoast Animal
League and Florida Boxer Rescue. To drive local cuteness, they each brought some dogs looking
for a forever home.
Our partners helped us add to the hype by donating amazing raffle prizes ranging from tickets
to Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Cirque du Soliel, Tampa Bay Lightning and Trans-Siberian
Orchestra, to name a few. Ark Naturals also got in the giving spirit, donating a generous amount
of their Brushless Toothpaste Dental Chews to each of the organizations.
On December 3, it was all-hands-on-deck mounting signage, setting up tents, blowing up way
too many balloons and grilling hot dogs. Our parking lot was effectively taken over by the color
purple and puppies.
Our community showed up in full force. Along with our downtown and South Tampa neighbors,
Channel 10 and 93.3 FLZ came out to support us and help spread the word.
In just under two hours, we were able to raise over $1,600, collect a heap of donations in the
form of pet food, toys and blankets, as well as helping two dogs find a home. Not bad for a
