BACKGROUND

The mission of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is to fund research and clinical trials to find less toxic, more effective treatments for childhood cancer. This mission costs money. In fact, this mission costs A LOT of money. That’s why the NPCF is always looking for new and inventive ways to fundraise for this worthy cause.

The “new and inventive ways to fundraise” is where PPK comes in.

We wanted to go way beyond the traditional advertising channels to not only capture attention and dollars, but create a piece that could directly involve the reason why we’re doing it all in the first place: for the kids and their families.

solution

create a children's book

This led to the idea of creating a children’s book; one that was created entirely in-house at PPK, pro bono. By minimizing absolutely every cost possible, that allowed us to maximize every dollar going directly to the mission of funding a cure for pediatric cancer.

100% of the proceeds go to the NPCF.

Clarence's greatest gift

Clarence’s Greatest Gift was concepted, written, illustrated, and promoted solely by members of the PPK team.

It is a story about a happy-go-lucky cloud who must find his purpose after accidentally raining on a big party. The book deals with themes of inclusion, as well as teaching kids to see the best in themselves and others.

social media

To spread the magic of Clarence’s story, we captured PPKers’ kids reading and enjoying the story, creating heartwarming content that resonated with families. Partnering with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, we amplified our reach through collaborative Instagram posts, ensuring more people saw and supported the mission behind the book.

To expand even further, we teamed up with family and mom influencers across the country, sending them copies of the book along with exclusive merchandise. Their support helped introduce Clarence’s Greatest Gift to new audiences, driving awareness, engagement, and sales—all to benefit pediatric cancer research.

giveaways

To make Clarence’s Greatest Gift even more special, we designed and produced custom merch. Tote bags, pins, coloring sheets, and bookmarks were thoughtfully crafted as keepsakes, each reflecting the whimsical charm of Clarence’s world. These exclusive items were shared through social media and website giveaways, offering families a chance to receive something extra while supporting a cause that truly matters.

story times

Clarence’s story was meant to be shared—and that’s exactly what we did. Clarence’s Greatest Gift made its way into children’s hospitals, classrooms, and local story times, where it was read aloud to kids eager to follow Clarence’s journey. These readings were more than just moments of storytelling; they became moments of connection, imagination, and escape. Whether in hospital rooms or bustling classrooms, Clarence’s adventure brought smiles and inspiration to children, reminding them that, like Clarence, they each have something truly special to offer the world.
